See different traditional Handicrafts  (11:00am-1:00pm )

Making Rice Paper

Rice paper is a thin, translucent, edible paper made from rice flour and water. To make spring rolls, rice paper is soaked in warm water for a few seconds until it becomes pliable, then filled with a variety of ingredients such as cooked shrimp or pork, fresh vegetables, herbs, and vermicelli noodles.

We will visit a family rice paper business and witness how the skills that have passed down through the generations are used to make this delicate product. You can have a great chance to practice making it with them if you wish.

Making Rice Wine

Rice wine is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented rice. It is a traditional drink for local people in Cambodia. We will visit a home-made distillery. It is made using traditional methods from rice and yeast, being fermented for a few days in clay jars before being distilled.

Making Dried Bananas

Watch the locals slice the bananas patiently into thin pieces and dry them under the sun. These delicious snacks are a result of a family business where everyone helps in the process before selling the products to locals.

Making Fish Paste (Prohok)

The fish paste market is where we see how Cambodians make this vital ingredient. It has to be stored in large pots and preserved for many months. Fish paste is a food product made from fish that has been finely minced, mixed with salt and other seasonings, and either fermented .

Making Bamboo Sticky Rice (Kro Lan)

This healthy and well-known snack, cooked in pieces of fresh bamboo, is enjoyed by local travelers and farmers. It is often seen for sale on road side stalls. You will see how it is cooked using natural ingredients such as raw sticky rice, black beans, coconut and sugar before being cooked over a charcoal fire for several hours. Taste this delicious smelling snack yourself, warm off the charcoal.

Lunch in the Village (1:00pm-2:30pm)

This is a unique experience to taste local home made food. We are local so just eat what we normally eat. We will cook local food for you that you don’t really find at the restaurant. It will be prepared by my wife. And you will eat it at our home in the village. After eating we give you a time to rest in hammocks so let’s enjoy your nap.
Note: Please let us know if you don’t eat meat or are allergic to some food.

Bamboo Train (3pm to 4pm)

The Bamboo Train used to be a very useful transportation for local people. They used it to transport goods, animals, rice and people after the war ended but now it’s become a famous and fun vehicle for tourists. You will spend around an hour to go and come back from Odambang village to Osrolau village. (additional $5 per person)

So I will explain to you how this regime happened and why they killed so many people. After that we will continue to the top where you will see the beautiful panoramic landscape of the Battambang region and its extensive green rice paddies.

Every evening, millions of bats fly to Tonle Sap Lake to feed on mosquitoes and insects, before returning in the morning. They eat the insects that harm the farmer’s
